Asus puts the dishes in the large (or vice versa!) Proposed here and its bestseller, the UL30, with the new NVIDIA Geforce 310M alongside Intel’s integrated chipset. On his new series, Asus has thus automating the management of energy. That is, when the machine is not requested, the processor will reduce its maximum frequency, and the display will be managed by the integrated Intel chipset. Once the need for felt power (Games, HD video), the processor increases the frequency and the display switches to the dedicated NVIDIA card to ensure the fluidity of the whole.

The rest of the configuration remains the same (as it is the same chassis), then loads the UL30JT an Intel i7 640UM or 620UM depending on configurations, up to 4 GB of DDR3 (1066 MHz), a graphics card NVIDIA Geforce 310M with 1 GB of dedicated memory (a GMA + HD), a 13.3-inch LED screen in 1366 x 768, HDMI port, VGA, 3 x USB, Ethernet port, an SD Card slot, WiFi b / g / n and Bluetooth. The storage will be provided by a disk of 640 GB

Regarding autonomy, Asus announced and introduced the 12 model with 8-cell battery of 5400mAh, without specifying whether this is the final battery. A priori, two batteries will be offered on the weight to 1.4 kg for 4 cells and 1.7 kg for the 8 cells.

At the CES 2010, Asus has introduced a change in its series UL80 with a very interesting option: the system will automatically switch between integrated graphics and dedicated card. So certainly they are not the first for Sony unsheathed first with the Vaio Z, but it is a very interesting evolution over the series UL80VT or switch is manual.

We still lack information about the configuration details. It is certain that today will carry an ULV Core i7 (probably the i7-620UM) and NVIDIA GeForce 310M in parallel with an Intel GMA chipset. The rest of the configuration, based on a chassis UL80 should embark classics HDMI, VGA, 3xUSB Microphone, Headset, Ethernet and an SD card slot.

Asus is also vague on over clocking the processor. Indeed, the new Core i7 has the abilities over clocker automatically as needed (or reduce their consumption at maximum), it does not know if the Turbo 33 will feature the game. The big change compared to the previous generation remains the automation of power management. When the machine is not requested, the processor will reduce its maximum frequency, and the display will be managed by the integrated Intel chipset. Once the need for felt power (Games, HD video), the processor increases the frequency and the display switches to the dedicated NVIDIA card.

With this technique, Asus announces 12h maximum autonomy (in power saving mode), and the possibility of parallel power play (albeit by making concessions).

Little aside on this model and automatic failover announced. We sincerely hope that efforts have been made to ensure smoother operation and no longer hold to software problems. Indeed today, the series UL80VT, it is impossible to switch from one card to another if some common applications (Live Messenger, Steam …) are launched … There are more practical.

This UL80JT we expect a lot should reveal a bit more in the days and weeks ahead we will keep you informed of his arrival on the market.
